Club AGM Report for 2011Another momentous year came to an end and a new one began with the Club AGM held in Bellinis, Newry on 7th Dec 2011
The management at the venue provided a superb setting with ample refreshments and nibbles for the evening’s proceedings.
Sean Featherstone called the meeting to order at 8.00pm to allow those who had to travel to be facilitated, leaving the early birds to devour the biscuits ( Don’t know where all the low sugar low fat diets have gone. )
Meeting commenced with Sean making the introductions followed by a humorous and heart felt slide show presentation of the year’s activities with in the club.

Sean finished by thanking all those who had helped through out the year.
Next to speak was our esteemed Treasurer Shane Mckeown who detailed all the clubs financial transactions in the 2010 -2011 period. All agreed with the financial details.
Peter Quinn race director and the driving force behind the Top of the Mourne event spoke next and discussed the year’s races and the plans that have been put in place to develop the 2012 race. Peter went on to open the floor to members to field some questions before the old committee stepped down. Several members took the opportunity to discuss some of the committee’s 2011decisions. Tony Bagnal discussed the Top of the Mourne race with a suggestion of trying to increase the up take of competitors. Peter informed the floor that he has requested that the race be on the national series circuit and that relays will be promoted more in the fourth coming year. Padraig Mallon commented on the fact that some of the organised beginners and ladies cycling that started at the beginning of the year had fell by the way side and that the new committee take this on board and encourage the continued sessions through the whole year. The request was noted.
The floor was closed and the 2011 committee members formally stood down.
Nominations and seconds were returned for all positions and a show of hands was taken to confirm the elected.

The main changes to the organisation this year has been the steeping down of Sean as the Chairperson of the club and Paul stepping in to his shoes. Colm Hurley , Deidre Dundord and Rodney O Hare are the new faces of the committee.
Paul McCann added a few words of thanks to everyone and stated that he had a lot to live up to in taking over from Sean Featherstone. A meeting of the new committee will be called as soon as possible to get the proceedings going for the forthcoming 2012 year.
The session was ended with Rodney O Hare thanking the Club as a whole for providing continued support and friendship to him and all his family through out the past few difficult years.
