No you don’t, it is not essential to have proper cycle shoes with special pedals.
if you are not used to them they can seem tricky at first. Our advice is, don’t worry, there are a lot of people taking part in our events who just have standard pedals on their bike.
No you don’t. A tri-suit can be worn for the whole triathlon i.e. you can swim, bike and run in one, however, most first timers opt for utilising what they already have so complete the swim in a costume/trunks under your wetsuit and then change into shorts & T-shirt or similar for the bike and run sections. Whatever you choose to wear for the bike/run will be left with your bike & helmet at bike transition.
The distances vary depending on which event/venue you choose.

Ideally you want to eat less of the bad stuff and more of the good stuff.
Less Sugar and more proteins and healthy carbs and up to 2 litres of water a day.

This is an excellent opportunity to practice setting up your transition area (where your bike and shoes will be located) and taking part in a shorter swim, cycle and run in preparation for your next race at the sell out Crooked Lake Triathlon; where you are guaranteed your entry as a C2C participant.
There will be NTC coaches and members on site to assist you with any questions or queries and to settle any last minute nerves. WE ALL GET THEM!
