Background-:
I’m from Forkhill and currently the owner of Forkhill Van and Car Sales. I became interested in starting to exercise about 3 years ago when I completed a bootcamp in the Carrickdale Hotel. I started to do some exercise class in the Carrickdale which I really began to enjoy. One evening while I was on facebook I saw somebody liking and sharing the Newry Triathlon Club Page, so I made further inquires and attended the NTC open night and I felt like I was more than welcome to join the club and this is where it all started.
When and why did you start triathlon?
I first started in February 2014. The reason why I started the triathlon club was to increase my fitness levels and become healthier.
In my first year of joining the triathlon club I completed 6 sprint distance triathlons, 3 Olympic distance triathlons and numerous long distance swims the longest being 4.8K.
In 2015, I completed 7 sprint distance, 3 Olympic distance and one half iron man (which I never thought I would see the day haha) plus numerous long distance swimming events.
Favourite triathlon distance?
My Favourite distance so far is the half iron man
Favourite Event to Date?
My Favourite Event to date was taking part in the Top of the Mourne Olympic Triathlon in Rostevor. I also enjoyed participating in the Giant swim which was 4.8K from Rostevor to Warrenpoint.
This year’s goals?
This Year I have set a goal for myself to improve on my time in Half Iron man distance and also any other triathlon I participate in.
Favourite Tri Discipline?
My Favourite Tri Discipline is the bike with No Drafting.
What does Newry Triathlon Club mean to you?
When I first thought of joining the triathlon club I never thought that I would be able to achieve what I have done to date, although with the support of great team members I have proven myself wrong.
I really enjoy being part of the triathlon club as there is great support from everyone and it’s a great way to socialize and stay healthy 🙂
